The Squiggening

Okay, I never intended for this army to be a contender (I still believe that the model count will be too high for me to actually do the list, but squigs are cool, so lets do this.

 

Army Goal:

To fling as many squigs up the board as I can. The list will be 2000 points and non-forgeworld.

Research:

White Dwarf 455 brought the Jaws of Mork, a squig specific tribe. Lets them reroll movement and just enjoy their Squiggly bouts of joy. Brilliant.

Taking a Moonclan General makes Squig Herds Battleline, taking a Loonboss on Mangler Squigs makes Squig Hoppers battleline. Is the Loonboss on Mangler Squigs a Moonclan general? Yes, yes he is.

Oh man, Mangler Squigs can fly. That is hilarious.

Viable units are said Loonboss on Mangler Squigs, Loonboss with Giant Cave Squig, Loonboss on Giant Cave Squig, Squig Hoppers, Boingrot Bounderz, Squig Herd, Mangler Squigs – So no magic if I stay in theme. Hmmm, I’d want to stay in theme with this list but the lack of magic/unbinding is definitely worrisome, would it move the list out of being competent?

Battalions?

Okay, there’s four present but the first I can dismiss quickly. The Squig Rider Stampede is just replaced by the Jaws of Mork tribe ability, so off it goes. Moon-Jumper Stampede gives +1 damage for Squigs jaw attacks on the charge. Sign me up!

Squigalanche (heh) needs a Squig Rider Stampede so no, leaving the Moon-Biter Squigalanche. That allows D3 units to move 6” after charging. Cool, let’s do that.

 

Building the list:

Honestly, building this list turned into “How to tweak a superbattalion to fit 2,000 points”. It’s squigs charging up the board, with a few herds kept for objective grabbing, list below.

The Army:

Loonboss on Mangler Squigs (General)

Loonboss on Giant Cave Squig

10 Squigs plus 2 herders

5 Squigs plus 1 herder

20 Squig Hoppers

15 Squig Hoppers

15 Boingrot Bounderz

1 Mangler Squigs

This army is 71 models and (at GW RRP) £357.50 to buy brand new.*

Pros: That’s a lotta teeth bouncing at the enemy.

Cons: No magic or shooting (well, far as I know), this would be a very samey army to paint. I assume it will be the highest model count too.
